Interview with Patricia Peters
Founder, Women Unlimited International
Interview Summary
Patricia Peters, a modern shaman and former math teacher, blends ancient wisdom with neuroscience to help high-achieving women find fulfillment. Her practical insight cuts through the woo: test every course idea through "pop-up workshops" before building full programs, and evaluate every opportunity against your numbers — "sometimes opportunities are just distractions in disguise."
Creating Safe Containers for Vulnerable Work
Patricia works in the deeply personal space where ancient wisdom practices meet modern neuroscience. This means her course participants are often navigating vulnerability — addressing long-held beliefs, confronting fears about visibility, and exploring spiritual practices that may feel unfamiliar. She designs "safe containers" by carefully screening participants for three types of fit: fit with her as a guide, fit with the group dynamic, and fit within her scope of competence. "You need to be crystal clear where your skills stop," she says. When someone needs support beyond her expertise, she refers out — a practice that builds trust and maintains the safety of the group.
Sometimes opportunities are just distractions in disguise.
Pop-Up Workshops: Testing Before Building
Patricia's most practical advice is deceptively simple: before building a full course, test individual modules as half-day "pop-up workshops." "I did a pop-up workshop, half a day, four hours. And the pop-up workshop not just turned out to become a module, but an entire course," she recalls. This approach reveals whether content needs expanding, trimming, or completely rethinking — information that is impossible to know in advance. The workshops also generate immediate revenue, provide live testimonials, and build an audience of proven buyers for the eventual full course.
The Math Behind the Mission
Patricia's background as a math teacher surfaces in her business approach. She evaluates every new opportunity against three criteria: Does it support my long-term vision? Does the desire come from abundance or scarcity ("Is it a push or is it a pull, a natural flow?")? And do the numbers actually work — considering the price, her time investment, and all real costs? "Please be very mindful about your time," she warns. "Passionate entrepreneurs tend to say, yeah, I will invest the time. But you will end up being burned out or bored out." Even intuition, she argues, needs a spreadsheet to check its work.
Does your desire come from scarcity or lack mindset? Is it a push or is it a pull, a natural flow?
Patricia's Action Steps
Patricia recommends these 3 steps to improve your course planning:
Test modules as pop-up workshops first
Before building a full course, run individual modules as half-day workshops. They reveal what needs expanding or trimming, generate revenue, and build an audience of proven buyers.
Evaluate every opportunity against three criteria
Does it support your long-term vision? Does the desire come from abundance or scarcity? And do the numbers work when you account for real costs and time? If not, it may be a distraction in disguise.
Screen participants for three types of fit
Before accepting someone into a vulnerable or transformational program, assess fit with you, fit with the group, and fit within your scope of competence. Refer out when needed — it builds trust.
